Fellow newbies, or Jr.newbs who care to read these Spam infested waters, what are the rules beyond just getting 50 posts? Beyond the obvious of being civil and helpful to each-other?
I will start out with a simple question: how many use their SR nic on the forums? I am not, and why should I? Now it does make sense for a vendor to, unless they are in stealth and up to no good etc. ...
But I will say one other-thing, often wisdom can be gleaned from reading and not impulsively intervening, In other words we can still read the forums (as can all of the Internet, clearnet/darknet included) but we will have to post our way here to further our greatness.

IMHO its a good concept that you should need 50 post to join post in the main forum. It weeds out the people who sign up but do not have the dedication to security and procedures to maintain this site secure. And as far as using my nic , why not? My ID on her and the main site are the same for purposes of continuity. I want vendors and senior members to know it is actually me who is posting when it comes to a product/service review.

That's not a good thing. The only thing you can gain from doing this is maybe a more favourable deal from some vendor, maybe they'll give you the good stuff if you honestly review product, or maybe they don't like your tone they'll send you ground up glass. Maybe they'll sell your identity to some punk who wants to rape your wife and eat your kids.
You stand a greater chance of losing your anonymity if you use the same name on both sites. IT security call it surface area, spies call it exposure, hackers call it protecting your dox. As a matter of principle you should protect any information that could be valuable to any present or future enemy, it's common sense.
If a dealer is busted because of the shit they get up to offline then there's a chance that the law get hold of your details and tie your username to your identity. In case this happens then you better not get involved in conspiracy to launder money or smuggle drugs on these forums because every word you've typed is tattooed to your home address.
Me on the other hand, I can post about where the bodies are buried without worrying about any of that shit coming back to haunt me, I can tell vendors who think they're gangster to suck my balls if I want. I'm a free man, or maybe I'm a woman, whatever I am is none of anyone's business.

I guess I should have prefaced that by saying that I already took precautions with my personal information before I even thought about posting a single word on this site. Most people wont take the steps to establish layers around their personal data or if they do , it one , maybe two at best. I understand where your coming from and it is a valid point for most user but if you take the right precautions beforehand , there is no reason to fear data compromise. Plus , if you are careful with your word choices and how you describe yourself , even the most through analysis of my data leaves you knowing almost nothing. For example , don't ever talk about your physical location outside of a properly encoded PGP message and so on. Its all risk management and to what degrees you apply it.

Thank you for the replies. I think I will stick with the anon id here on the forums. SR is a wonderful place and I hope all will treat it with respect. I can also understand the 50 post rule, but already I see spammers spamming their way past it, so without Sr. Mods here watching for this kind of activity it is self defeating IMO. I also think we need a Sr. mod or at least members to participate here, otherwise it is as my subject head...

Hardly the blind leading the blind.
Mushmold everything you have posted about is currently in effect...if you read some threads all the info you asked about is already in this section of the forum as far as mods all mods are specifically watching over and replying to threads in this section esp me. The spamming to reach 50 posts will soon be dissolved and not allowed as I believe newbies should learn that the only real way to be knowledgable here is to do reasearch as much as possible and not rely others to answer every little question but to be proactive and search for your answers most have been answered multiple times in the forum, you just need to know what methods work best to search properly.

I'll second that I still want to throw my damn laptop out the window when it come's to PGP I just can't wrap my head round it,maybe because ii've not been able to and don't know which dowload I need every thread I search about it just leave's load's of code there's no real quick link's to just be able to DL what you need and get on with it,if i have the tool's i can do most thing but at 34 and 2 year'd pc experience it's not easy 98% percent of buyers on here are young teen's i'm guessing from the newbie forum because an adult shouldn't really be asking relativly simple question's yeah I did forget about the Pin needed for making an order but I made my account before xmas and forgot but most people will use some permatation of an already existing number in they're head whether it be a birthdate or address or post/zip code,it's best not to but most will, and I rememebered my pass, and (And NO its none of the afformention it's the size of my dick I run 6 figure's) ;D,I sat waiting for my account to update using the refresh page method for 3 hours untill I logged out and back in again and hey presto my account was updated so I made a newbie thread explaining this maybe then there wont be as many claiming they got scammed,it's not hard to just use a little common sense if you cant find your answer IM a mod or something IM sure they're more than happy to help instead of making new threads covering the same thing's,personally I was gutted when I got locked out the other forum's for not having 50 post's but hey ho it's not the end of the world.
Right couple hours of sleep and wait for postman pat.
Peace

Well played my friend, well played...

THX nomad. Now I see it is happening. Perfect, and I support this method. I see many have issues with PGP, something I also had, but it wasn't with the encryption but the SW not running properly on 64 bit OS'. So I will see if I can help instead of bitch ;-)

I thought it was a good idea to change my nick on here to not reflect my SR name, then the new policy happened. so fuck. But, honest me will not spam

ha ha....
50 posts means they have to remember their username and password AND onion address after they just filled their body and soul with shit.
ALSO: they have to remember whatever they were going to say after 50 meaningless posts...
Doo-doo DOO: Marijuana affects the memory.

I use the same name on the Silk Road as I do here, and I have a dedicated account tormail for it too. I see the forums as an extension of the market, so there is nothing to gain by using different names. The mailbox is used only for messages Silk Road. I maintain accounts tormail several different identities.

It generates a trust through branding. It's essential to every reliable market. Amazon. Ebay. USPS. UPS. FedEx. They all have been well-branded and proven to be mostly reliable. With a little consumer responsibility, they are near-perfect markets.
Trolling STrolling thought: Fuck, I can't wait until Game of Thrones continues!

Good call. As a newbie I fully support this action. All those threads with spam to 50 posts should be deleted immediately. IMHO anyone who starts a spam thread should have their posting rights frozen for a fortnight.
If people arent willing to contribute intelligent postings in the newbie forum, and are posting junk - they're hardly likely to stop once they have access to the rest of the forums.
In fact, because they've skipped over a lot of good content in the newbie forum, they're much more likely to be posting elementary questions in the rest of the forums, that have been answered already.

Are you really using your facebook profile URL as your signature; or is it a wind-up?

If this does happen it should be concurrent with the vendor accounts becoming exempt from this rule.

I'd agree with that. Sellers are a different category of user.
I'd happily volunteer to moderate this forum for spam threads.
